Introducing the PROTECTPYME Antiviral Masks – designed for reuse and capable of enduring up to 100 washes. These masks benefit from an advanced antiviral treatment utilizing a Swiss patent from HEIQ, which incorporates silver ions. Silver is known for its strong antimicrobial and antiviral properties, attributed to its high surface area and distinctive chemical characteristics. The yarn matrix embedded with silver nanoparticles serves as an innovative defense against viruses, effectively neutralizing them following brief contact with the silver.
The interaction of silver with the lipid membranes surrounding bacteria and viruses creates electron donor groups, which disrupts the infection process by blocking viral proteins. This silver-infused technology is incorporated into the fabric using a unique treatment approved by HEIQ (HEIQ AG-20), registered with the EPA under number 85249-1. HEIQ has conducted tests on this antiviral treatment against coronaviruses, demonstrating remarkable effectiveness by inactivating 99.99% of the virus upon contact with the treated fabric.
Furthermore, both the HEIQ treatment and the criteria for filtration and breathability meet the UNE0065:2020 standard, maintaining their efficacy even after 100 washes at 60ºC. The masks are crafted from polyamide, ensuring a snug fit that contours comfortably to the face, surpassing the comfort of conventional masks. Additionally, they are recognized by the United States FDA (Food & Drug Administration) with registration number 10076671.
