Description
The 2017 vintage of CAMPO ELÍSEO showcased an unusually early harvest. Among the various factors affecting this year’s wine, the weather fluctuations stood out prominently. Late frosts in late April impacted several Denominations of Origin in Castilla. Drought conditions dominated our vineyards this year, resulting in less than 250 mm of rainfall in Rueda and around 300 mm in Toro. This led directly to a notable reduction in total yield and resulted in grapes ripening ahead of schedule.
Upon tasting, the wine reveals a rich dark hue and an appealing nose with concentrated aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry. On the palate, it expresses beautiful intensity, along with a perfect balance of volume and acidity. The flavors of blackcurrant and berries intertwine with toasty notes, delicate hints of chocolate, and robust tannins, culminating in a memorable finish with a touch of grain.
